Nail Art || Stripes

Hello! Another manicure from days ago and I believe I have a few more coming that are from days before :P But the other week I decided I had to do more than just slap on a coat of polish and go to work. I decided it was time to get out my striping tape and get taping!

I don't know how I came up with this color combination, but I liked it. The blue looks less dark than it actually was. You could actually barely tell the difference between the black and blue. Over the black I just had to put on Fairy Dust, since it makes every manicure better. Over the pink/purple I put on Kleancolor Chunky Holo Fuchsia.

As you can see I do not really master the tape as you can see on my pinky finger. Of course I applied a layer of topcoat after the tape, but sadly the next day the tape came off :( But I had fun for as long as it lasted :P

The blue polish is a blue polish from Hema, the black is just Black from Color Club, topped with China Glaze Fairy Dust. The pink/purple is Purple Crush from Orly.

I hope you're having a great weekend and I'll see you next time! :)

Catrice Month: Heavy Metallilac

Happy Friday! :D Today I'm showing you Heavy Metallilac. A purple metallic. Or a lilac metallic. Whatever you prefer :P

I bought this one a few days ago, because I wanted to see if you could stamp with it. Guess what? I haven't tested it out yet. But I really don't like this one. I'm not into metallic polishes and I don't like some purples on me. Some make my hands look cold.

I don't think you can see it that well, but I think there is like an orange shimmer or something like that in it. This polish covers pretty well in 1 coat, but it's too sheer to wear just one coat, but two is perfectly fine. It's not as streaky as the pictures show.

Oh, I just noticed that this is my 100th post! :D

Thanks for reading :)

Catrice Month: Dirty Berry

For day 2 of the Catrice Month I have Dirty Berry to show you. It's supposed to be a holographic polish, but it's not really noticeable in real life. It's still a berry nice polish though :)

The application of this one was really nice. The polish wasn't too thick or thin (even though it's a really old polish) and it dried pretty quickly. 2 coats were needed for opacity. For this swatch I didn't use a base- and topcoat.

I didn't mention it in yesterday's post, but this polish is still available. I think when Catrice will come with a new collection Dirty Berry might get discontinued. So get it while you can! :)

Thanks for reading :)

With A Flakie On Top

Todays manicure is something I really love! Easy and simple, but looking pretty nice. 2 weeks ago I wore Color Club's Warhol, a bright neon that looks so amazing in the sun. I put a green flakie on it and mattified it and I was in love! I tried to capture it on my camera, but it never worked out... A week later again I tried the same, but it just didn't happen.

Yesterday I just grabbed a random polish (just because it's kind of weird for me to stare at my polishes for 30 minutes, pick something and then decided it's not what I want). As my base color I'm wearing Miss Sporty's number 328 from the Clubbing Colours. Somebody please tell me where I can find the names for these polishes! Over that a Golden Rose flakie in number 09.

Just like the combination of Warhol and flakie I wanted this one matte too. It looks really different than when it's shiny, but I don't know how to explain that. I used ELF's matte topcoat for it.

I really like the look of the topcoat, because it's not a shiny matte, but I just looked at my nails and noticed that it's not matte anymore, while a few hours ago it still was matte. So it stayed matte for like 20 hours or something.

I'm sorry for the picture spam, but believe me; I had so much more! xD

Thanks for reading!

Catrice feMALE LE; Swatches

Hello! Today I'm showing you a new LE collection from Catrice. This is the feMALE collection. The collection is focusing on the male dandy look versus feminine elegance.

This first one is A Woman's World. The pictures are far from accurate, but it's a nice coral orange polish. This one is close to Catrice's I Scream Peach!, but a little lighter in color.

Next we have Nude. A brown beige polish. This one was opaque in just 1 coat! I like the shiny version much better than it's own finish. The matte finish makes the polish look a bit dull...

My favorite from the 4; Who Are Blue. A lovely blurple polish. I think that's my first blurple polish. I like both the matte finish and the shiny topcoat finish. This one is similar to the Essence Colour & Go Absolutely Blue, but that one has a shiny finish. 1 coat is okay, but 2 coats is better.

Last but not least we have So Suit! A smokey grey polish. It looks lighter in the bottle than on the nails. Compared to the other 3 this one dries more shiny matte. I don't really like this one, but that's just the season; I'll probably love this one in the Winter.

All the pictures with the original finish were taking approximately 2 minutes after I applied a polish. The shiny version were taken probably right after I applied the topcoat.

I like the collection, but it's not that special. My favorite is Who Are Blue? I don't think Catrice ever had one like it in their standard collection, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Which one is your favorite? :)

Thanks for reading!

Day 24: Inspired By A Book

Can you see what book inspired me? The Rainbow Fish! I have no idea what the book was about; it's too long ago. But when I decided to do Rainbow Fish nails I remembered when I was like 7 we had to make the Rainbow Fish out of pieces of fabric. It was so much fun! I only put glue on the beginning of the fabric, so the pieces would hang loose on my paper. Oh, I was so creative! :P

I had no idea where to begin with these nails, so this tutorial helped me :)

A list of colors that I used;
Color Club; What A Drag!
Catrice; The Pinky And The Brain
Catrice; Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!
Catrice; Pool Party At Night
China Glaze; For Audrey
Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours; 328
Golden Rose Scale Effect; 04

I hope you liked it! :)

Thanks for reading!

Day 22: Inspired By A Song

I've been thinking so much of what song I should be inspired by. I listen to so much music, but I couldn't pick anything where I though I could make something with. I decided to watch video clips instead and I got inspired!

I doubt you can tell what video I choose, but I picked Jessie J's Domino. The video is really nice and I saw some things that I wanted to do something with.

This picture is inspired from the part where Jessie sits on this zebra print chair and she wears this gorgeous butterfly mask!

My index finger is inspired by a jacket she wears in the video. It's a blue and green gradient with leopard print and something printed in yellow. I decided to just put the yellow with the gradient as well.

My middle finger is from where she wears this pink suit kind of thing full with with things. I don't know what they were, so I just stamped clouds on my nail :P

My ring finger is inspired by the wall where she dances in a white 'I-don't-know-what-to-call-it'. The wall is actually greenish, but I already had a green nail.

My pink is inspired by the very beginning. Also the wall, with these circles in circles going in circles ;p

Overall I'm kind of proud of my little creation. Especially because I'm not that creative :P I hope you like it too! :)

Layering: Forget that Brilliant Alias

Hello! I'm sorry for my absence. I hope to continue with the 31 Day Challenge tomorrow :)

Today I have my first layered manicure for you. I tried it a few times before, but it never worked out. This manicure is actually 3 weeks old, but I found these pictures and decided to post them.

I don't remember what base coat I used, but it's either Seche Vite or Trind Nail Repair. Then I applied 1 or 2 coats of Catrice's Forget Me Not followed by a coat of Alias from Color Club. I topped it off with BeYu's Brilliant Shiraz and I was so happy with the way it looked!

My happiness was gone when I was in bed later that night and my polish started peeling off again. I went 'naked' before this manicure for about a week. The week before when my polish peeled off was when I was also wearing Brilliant Shiraz. So it's not the condition of my nails, but it's Brilliant Shiraz that's giving me peeling polish. I tried a few topcoats, but none work. Brilliant Shiraz is not for my nails :(

But anyway, thank you for reading and I hope to see you back soon :)

Day 20: Water Marbled

Hello! Today I kinda cheated. Like the title says, I was supposed to water marble. I do not have filtered room temperature water and I'm not gonna buy a bottle of water just for today. So after a few tries I decided to just do a drag marble. I believe that's what this is called.

I used the following polishes;
Essie - Tart Deco, Color Club - Wham! Pow!, China Glaze - Sugar High, Color Club - Warhol, Catrice - Lucky In Lilac!, Color Club - Pucci-Licious, Essence - Got A Secret, Orly - Blue Collar and China Glaze - Snow.

In case you didn't know; I have a super small room. I don't even have a closet and until not so long ago I didn't even have a bed. When I do my nails I have this plate thing for your lap (it's supposed to be for breakfast in bed) It's not really stable, but comes in quite handy for doing my nails. Today, I have no idea what happened, but since the plate is so unstable I dropped 7 open bottles on my carpet and bed... So yeah, I can't remove it, but it's not so bad. I hate this carpet and the sheets... Who cares? ;p

I water marbled once before. Check it here!

Day 19: Galaxies

I was kinda nervous to do the galaxy nails, because I only have to pick 1 wrong color and I can start all over again! But today that wasn't the case. I think I picked the right colors and I'm pretty satisfied with the end result :)

The picture above is from the nail I liked best; my middle finger. You can see most of the base color I used and to me that's more galaxy-like ;p

This last picture is a one from all the polishes I used. From left to right;
Sinful Colors - Frenzy
Essence Multi Dimension - Midnight Rocker (base color)
Catrice - Blues Brother Vol. II
Miss Sporty Clubbing Colors - 330
Orly - Blue Collar
China Glaze - Ahoy!
ELF - Glitter Purple
ELF - Lilac
Essie - East Hampton Cottage

The bottle that's not on the picture is China Glaze's Fairy Dust. I just forgot about it ;p

Day 16: Delicate Print

Hello! Today I have the 'forgotten' delicate print. Maybe a bit too delicate :P Today I had some nail horror going on on both my hands, so that's why my index finger is not going to be showed for probably a week xD

I started, of course, with a basecoat. Today I used Trind's Nail Repair. I think you can all see what polish I used, but if not; It's the GORGEOUS Wild At Heart from Color Club. For my matte topcoat I used GOSH Matt Effect Topcoat. Then I stamped with Wild At Heart and I used image plate SdP-47.

The reason why I did nothing with my middle finger is because the matte topcoat takes a long time to dry and something invisible would just keep making bumps and smudges on my nail! I re-did my nail 3 times and then I just decided to leave it like this ;p

Day 15: Tribal Print

I switched day 15 and 16. Today was supposed to be 'Delicate print', but I accidentally went to day 16. But that doesn't matter. I'm doing what I was supposed to do today, tomorrow OR I'll take a little break and continue in a few days. These sentences sound really confusing to me right now ;p

My tribal nails turned out really sad and not as epic as how it looks on other people. I do like the ones on my ring and pinky finger though. Of course I worked with striping tape again, because I don't really have nice brushes ;p

I started off with a base coat and then painted all of my nails black with the color Black from Color Club. Then I used striping tape for the shapes and stripes. Then I used different colors from different brands, just ask if you want to know a specific color, and I filled everything with a dotting tool. Again, I didn't use a topcoat afterwards. The reason I don't do that is because when I use a topcoat everything starts to smudge. Doesn't matter what topcoat I use or how long I leave my nails to dry. For the pictures I don't like smudgy, smudge smudge xD

Please leave a comment and thanks for reading!

Day 13: Animal Print

Animal print. I always like seeing it on others, but on me... I don't know. I like to show stuff here and then I like it, but I would probably not go out the house with these nails ;p

Just like yesterday it turned out a bit different than planned, but that's okay. The colors I used were Pucci-Licious (purple), What A Drag (silver) and Warhol (pink), all from Color Club. For the black I used a black stamping polish.

  • Seche Vite base coat
  • 2 coats of Pucci-Licious, What A Drag and Warhol
  • Essence matte topcoat on Pucci-Licious and Warhol
  • Konad image plate m57
  • Silver stamping with What A Drag
  • Black stamping with black stamping polish
  • No topcoat

Day 8: Metallic Nails

For today we have some metallic nails. I have to say I hate metallic polishes. The finish is something that's just not my thing. Recently I saw this post from The Polished Perfectionist. Since I now wanted to try something metallic matte, I did it for today. And I love the way this polish looks matte. This is the new version of Let's Mauve On! from Catrice.

I decided to stamp over it with an image from Konad image plate m65. I don't really like this combination, but I guess it's okay. I think I might Let's Mauve On! more often now.

Tomorrow we have rainbow nails and I hope I can make it look just like I did on my old blog :)

Day 6: Violet Nails

Violet... I had to Google it, because I didn't really know what purple's I could use. All the colors that I saw were all different kinds of purple, so I thought I could just use these two for it.

I started with painting my nails in Plum Play With Me from Catrice which I actually bought a while back. I never noticed this one, but it's been out there forever! The triangle part is Purple Pleaser from ELF. It was pretty hard to get the striping tape the way I wanted to be, but I couldn't take it off anymore, because then I had to re-do my nails. And I'm too lazy for that! All in all it turned out not too bad.

I think you can see what I tried to make. A peace sign! :)

Before I forget; I told you about the bunny we bought, but he still doesn't have a name! So here's a picture of him. Maybe his furry coat makes you think of a name ;p

I hope you liked today's mani :)

BeYu - Brilliant Shiraz

A new way of showing my swatches? The Ivana Thinks Pink way :P It kinda happened by accident, but I like this way better, because my nails look less sad.

Anyway, I got my Unicorn Pee's long lost sister! Unicorn Pee = Clarins 230 :) I never really go shopping, because I get in a bad mood, but a few weeks ago I went lunching with a friend and I dragged her into Douglas. But my Douglas didn't sell BeYu polishes. Months ago I started stalking the site, seeing if they had BeYu 209, but I gave up. Last week I got a late birthday present from work; a €30,00 gift card for Douglas and thank the lord I could spend it online. Not thinking it would happen I checked it they had BeYu 209 and they had it! :O I ordered 2 bottles and those were also the last :P

I don't know who came up with it, but this polish looks amazing over a blue polish. On it's own it looks kinda fugly in my opinion. There's hardly a way for me to describe this polish. In the bottle it looks shimmery orange/brown. When you open it, it's kinda pink. Depending on the lighting it's green, blue and yellow. And on the nails, over a blue, it just looks amazing! Let the pictures speak...

I did my nails a few hours before I went to bed. When I woke up it was all looking good, but after my shower this is what I saw! I decided to fix it, but later it started to peel off really weird.

Like this! Some chips came in my nails and all this happened in like 10 minutes. I fixed my nails, went to work, came at work, took my gloves off, on both my hands there was a nail just naked. And during work it started to chip and just fly off like crazy! In my lunch break I bought a bottle of nail polish remover and decided to take off those last sad pieces.

There could be 2 reasons why this happened;

  1. New base-/topcoat. Sally Hansen's No More Breaks. Usually I would pay € 9,00 for it, but got it for € 0,50. Why not try?
  2. I wore these fake nails last week. Could be the glue?
So I'm going naked a while.

This last picture is the blue polish I wore under BeYu 209. Hema Nailpolish 08. Nail polish isn't 1 word, right? Because the bottle says Nailpolish, but my spell check says it's nail polish :P

Great that you made it to the end of this post! I said I have 2 bottles of BeYu 209 and as soon as I hit 150 followers I'm doing a giveaway including one of those bottles :)

Thanks for reading!
