Queensday Nails

Hello on this lovely day. I hope my fellow Dutchies had a great Queensday. I don't 'celebrate' it, but did go for some orange nails. I didn't wear the following manicure today, but I did wear orange.

I started with a with base color and then applied 3 colors on a sponge and pressed it on my nails. I recently showed you a tutorial on how to do gradient nails, but that's not how I do it anymore. I'm doing it this way now and I find it so much easier!

I went for a gold stamp this time which actually looked good. The orange in these pictures look a lot more red and bright then in real life. But I was very happy with the outcome :)

From the lightest to darkest color I used Catrice Salmon & Garfunkel, Essie Tart Deco, Catrice Pimp My Shrimp and Catrice Fred Said Red. For the gold stamping I used Gold Foil from Diamond Cosmetics and image plate m57.

Instagram Pictures #1

Hello! 5 minutes before this post I decided I wanted to do a weekly Instagram picture spam. Why? Because I want to ;p

This first one is made with my iPod Touch. I finally decided to get the iPhone 4S! :)

Pastel Rainbow Nails

Hello today! :) Sorry for neglecting my blog. I got a new phone the other day and I've been playing with it a lot! I love it!

Today I'm showing you my pastel rainbow nails. I did this 6 days ago to wear it on Monday, but in the morning I decided I didn't want it. So I had to do my nails really quick :P Just because I didn't wore it out to work doesn't mean I don't like it. I really do like it!

I used 6 colors, but I think that was 1 too many. Also the green that I used didn't really fit the other pastels. It was kind of a dirty green. For the image I used Konad image plate m57 again, which is obviously my favorite ;p

I have a question for you now. Would you like a Catrice swatch month? I have so many Catrice polishes that I haven't shown here yet. The month isn't going to be filled with just swatches of course :P Just let me know down below.

Catrice - Aretha's R•E•S•P•I•N•K

Hello! I found some swatches on my laptop today so I thought I share this one today with you. It's swatched 2 months ago and I'm too lazy to grab the bottle and tell you what it really looks like. Meet Aretha's R•E•S•P•I•N•K :)

As you can see it's a hot pink. It's not neon, but close. This year Catrice changed their polish brushes and to be honest I hate them so much! I was hoping that the brushes would be similar to Miss Sporty brushes, but they're definitely not! I feel like the brushes are so thick that it will pick up a lot of polish and apply really thick. Saying that; I should see if they're good for stamping now.

Catrice also came with another pink polish which looks similar to this; The Pinky And The Brain (loved the cartoon) but it's not. I wasn't able to capture the difference on camera, but they really are different.

Abstract Nails

I guess they're not really that abstract, but I needed to name this post xD Not everything I show here is worn in real life too. Just because I didn't want to wear it to work I guess. Now I thought I should just do it! And I did.

I'm happy I wore it to work, because I got many compliments :) People asked me where I got it done (right here in my bedroom!) or how I did it or if they were stickers. So yeah, I'm happy and convinced I need to wear more things like this on my nails.

I think you might know how I did it, but if you don't follow me; 2 coats of Blushing Rose from Color Club. Then I sponged China Glaze Laced Up over it and on some places I sponged Blushing Rose over it. I applied a coat of Seché Vite and after that I used an image on Konad plate m57 to stamp on my nails. Topcoat it, and that's it! :)

And if this looks familiar to you, check these Valentine's nails :)

Nail Polish Storage

I've seen a lot of different ways to storage your nail polish. I thought I found mine, but my collection is growing so much that it didn't fit anymore.

Before I show you, I have a very unorganized way of storing my polishes. The reason; I have the smallest bedroom in the world. My bed barely fits in it and I don't even have a closet. I only have place to store under my bed and on my wall.

Months ago I got these things. I don't know what to call them. They're supposed to hang on the wall and place pictures and what not on them. They're perfect for nail polish, so that's what I use them for. They have smaller ones too and I hope to get more of these someday.

And yesterday I bought this plastic storage box. I don't know the size of it, but it's full now. It might look very messy, which it is, but for me it's easy. I get it from under my bed, put it on my bed and I can find colors so much more easier than I did before. I kept them in a smaller plastic black basket. I couldn't see a thing! :P

Yesterday I also counted all my polishes and counted 278 I believe. I was hoping I was over 300 already xD I gave away a few to my mom and some might leave my collection, so the number isn't right. I didn't count top and basecoats and stamping polishes.

I own the most Catrice polishes; 53 :)

N.Y.C. - Lexington Yellow

Hello! Today I have a swatch of a very lovely yellow polish for you. N.Y.C. Lexington Yellow. I've been looking for a nice yellow for a while now and I love Essence Yellow Mellow, but it's small, old and thick and just not IT.

You can see that the color on my nails look way different than in the bottle. The color in the bottle is the actual color. It's a soft yellow with a hint of orange. I hope I'm gonna wear it a lot in summer :D

Tutorial; Stamping With A Gradient Background

Hello! How is your Friday the 13th going? :) Mine has been awesome, like always! :)

About a week ago an anon on Tumblr asked me to do a tutorial on the nails I did for day 26 for my 31 day challenge. Since I don't have the equipment to film a tutorial I did a photo tutorial. I hope I did well xD

Since it's not gonna be a gradient from light to dark or dark to light I first started picking 3 colors. I choose 3 pinks and started with the medium color which is Gum Pink from ELF.

Then you want to take a little make-up sponge or whatever sponge works good for you and you dip it in the lightest color you have. I don't like to apply polish on the sponge itself, because I feel like the sponge sucks up the polish more.

It's gonna end up looking something like this.

Then take your darkest color and sponge it over the lightest color. A tip when you haven't sponged before; Don't sponge too hard. The sponge can leave some pieces which are gonna get stuck on your nail and you have to start over.

Then it might look something like this;

Then apply a flakie. I love a green flakie over pinks, but you can do whatever you want. Maybe a glitter or nothing. Then you want to apply a topcoat afterwards. A fast drying is recommended, but if you're not too impatient you can just use a not so fast drying one.

When your manicure is completely dry you want to take your stamping gear. I used the image on Konad plate m60 and I'm using a Konad stamper and scraper. I'm using a white stamping polish.

If you decide to use a white for stamping you really need a white stamping polish or you need to find a really opaque white polish. I believe Sally Hansen has a really opaque one, but a stamping polish is the best.

Then I clean up around my nails with pure acetone and a brush. You can also just use nail polish remover and a q-tip. I find a white stamping polish really hard to remove around my nails as you can obviously see :P

This is really simple to do, but for me it's also a little practice to see how to make a photo tutorial and maybe make other things in the future :)

Thanks for reading and thanks to the anon for the request!

Pastel Skittles & Dots

Happy Easter everyone! I don't celebrate Easter, I'm just here for the chocolate eggs. But I did want to do something "Eastery" for today. Pastel colors remind me of Easter somehow, so that's why I did this simple skittle mani.

The pictures turned out a bit too bright, but you can still kinda see. I really liked the skittles, but wanted to try to add some dots, but they didn't turn out so good. They look like candy we used to get when we were little.

From pinky to thumb; Color Club Blushing Rose, Catrice Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!, Essence Mellow Yellow, Catrice Apropos Apricot and ELF Mint Cream. I definitely refound my love for ELF's Mint Cream. What a gorgeous color!

Again, happy Easter and thanks for reading!

With A Flakie On Top

Todays manicure is something I really love! Easy and simple, but looking pretty nice. 2 weeks ago I wore Color Club's Warhol, a bright neon that looks so amazing in the sun. I put a green flakie on it and mattified it and I was in love! I tried to capture it on my camera, but it never worked out... A week later again I tried the same, but it just didn't happen.

Yesterday I just grabbed a random polish (just because it's kind of weird for me to stare at my polishes for 30 minutes, pick something and then decided it's not what I want). As my base color I'm wearing Miss Sporty's number 328 from the Clubbing Colours. Somebody please tell me where I can find the names for these polishes! Over that a Golden Rose flakie in number 09.

Just like the combination of Warhol and flakie I wanted this one matte too. It looks really different than when it's shiny, but I don't know how to explain that. I used ELF's matte topcoat for it.

I really like the look of the topcoat, because it's not a shiny matte, but I just looked at my nails and noticed that it's not matte anymore, while a few hours ago it still was matte. So it stayed matte for like 20 hours or something.

I'm sorry for the picture spam, but believe me; I had so much more! xD

Fake The Splatter!

Hi! Can I say that I'm really ready for the weekend? I just need it! ;p Today I'm gonna show you the manicure I wore yesterday.

I painted my nails with 1 coat of Who Are Blue from Catrice. Over that I stamped with Color Club Wild At Heart and I used image plate m70 from Konad. I really think that the image looks like some paint splatter or just something random with a brush and paint xD

Then, to add more holo, I added a coat of Fairy Dust. Because, you know... Fairy Dust makes everything better :)

I hope to show you the manicure that I just made tomorrow, because I'm in love with it! xD

Pink Houndstooth manicure

Hellew! I could start with apologizing again for being such a bad blogger, but I think you might have figured out by now. Work has basically taken over, so I'm too lazy to post. In 2 weeks I only have to work 1,5 days (!!!!!) so I guess I'll be posting more by then. Unless I get asked to work for somebody else again and I can't say no....

Anyhow.... Today I want to show you my pink houndstooth manicure. I was thinking about what colors I would use for it, since black and white are always used. So I decided to go with pink and white :)

I started with 2 coats of Snow from China Glaze and I used a baby pink stamping polish. The houndstooth pattern can be found on Konad imageplate m63. Bundle Monster has a plate with the pattern too and it looks 10 times better though :P

Flyin' Clovers

Hello! I'm really sorry for being such a lazy blogger the past few weeks... I've had nails breaking and been super busy at work. But next week is hopefully the last hard week. I probably still won't be able to post a lot, but after Friday I have 4 days off! :D

Today I have a manicure that I didn't know what to name. It's a gradient (that you can't see) with a stamp I don't know what to name ;p

I painted my nails 1 coat of Four Leaf Clover from China Glaze, thanks Jen, and over that I made a gradient with China Glaze Flyin' High. You can't even see it in the picture. They're not really the same color; FLC is green and FH is blue/green and pictures just never really do the job. I also did some sponging with NYX Sea Of Cortez. Of course, in real life it looked a lot better!

I did the stamping with Konad m78 and I used a black stamping polish that isn't really working ;p I think I got a bad polish, because other stamping polishes from that brand have been doing a great job!

Thanks for reading! :)
