Tutorial; Stamping With A Gradient Background

Hello! How is your Friday the 13th going? :) Mine has been awesome, like always! :)

About a week ago an anon on Tumblr asked me to do a tutorial on the nails I did for day 26 for my 31 day challenge. Since I don't have the equipment to film a tutorial I did a photo tutorial. I hope I did well xD

Since it's not gonna be a gradient from light to dark or dark to light I first started picking 3 colors. I choose 3 pinks and started with the medium color which is Gum Pink from ELF.

Then you want to take a little make-up sponge or whatever sponge works good for you and you dip it in the lightest color you have. I don't like to apply polish on the sponge itself, because I feel like the sponge sucks up the polish more.

It's gonna end up looking something like this.

Then take your darkest color and sponge it over the lightest color. A tip when you haven't sponged before; Don't sponge too hard. The sponge can leave some pieces which are gonna get stuck on your nail and you have to start over.

Then it might look something like this;

Then apply a flakie. I love a green flakie over pinks, but you can do whatever you want. Maybe a glitter or nothing. Then you want to apply a topcoat afterwards. A fast drying is recommended, but if you're not too impatient you can just use a not so fast drying one.

When your manicure is completely dry you want to take your stamping gear. I used the image on Konad plate m60 and I'm using a Konad stamper and scraper. I'm using a white stamping polish.

If you decide to use a white for stamping you really need a white stamping polish or you need to find a really opaque white polish. I believe Sally Hansen has a really opaque one, but a stamping polish is the best.

Then I clean up around my nails with pure acetone and a brush. You can also just use nail polish remover and a q-tip. I find a white stamping polish really hard to remove around my nails as you can obviously see :P

This is really simple to do, but for me it's also a little practice to see how to make a photo tutorial and maybe make other things in the future :)

Thanks for reading and thanks to the anon for the request!

With A Flakie On Top

Todays manicure is something I really love! Easy and simple, but looking pretty nice. 2 weeks ago I wore Color Club's Warhol, a bright neon that looks so amazing in the sun. I put a green flakie on it and mattified it and I was in love! I tried to capture it on my camera, but it never worked out... A week later again I tried the same, but it just didn't happen.

Yesterday I just grabbed a random polish (just because it's kind of weird for me to stare at my polishes for 30 minutes, pick something and then decided it's not what I want). As my base color I'm wearing Miss Sporty's number 328 from the Clubbing Colours. Somebody please tell me where I can find the names for these polishes! Over that a Golden Rose flakie in number 09.

Just like the combination of Warhol and flakie I wanted this one matte too. It looks really different than when it's shiny, but I don't know how to explain that. I used ELF's matte topcoat for it.

I really like the look of the topcoat, because it's not a shiny matte, but I just looked at my nails and noticed that it's not matte anymore, while a few hours ago it still was matte. So it stayed matte for like 20 hours or something.

I'm sorry for the picture spam, but believe me; I had so much more! xD

Thanks for reading!

Day 26: Inspired By A Pattern

For today I didn't really have anything in mind. Since image plates have some nice patterns I decided to go for Konad image plate m60. I didn't want to have just 1 boring background color, so I made a gradient.

My base color is Catrice Apropos Apricot. From the base of my nail (where my cuticles are) I used the following colors;
Essie; Tart Deco
Catrice; Apropos Apricot
Sinful Colors; Beautiful Girl
China Glaze; Sugar High

Then I went for Golden Rose flakies in number 09. I think it really adds something... ;p As mentioned before I used image plate m60 and I used a white stamping polish. A coat of Seche Vite and manicure finished! Super simple :)

Day 21: Inspired By A Color

Hello! I'm back with the challenge :)

I didn't really know what to do today. How can I be inspired by a color? I don't get creative from a color. Actually, I'm not really creative at all. At first I wanted to go all ombre again, since I had 2 new pink polishes, but 1 of them looks just like some others. The one that I'm wearing is really awesome though!

I'm wearing 2 coats of Catrice's new 2012 polish Aretha's R•E•S•P•I•N•K. It's almost like a hot pink neon, but it's not neon. It dries shiny and looks amazing. It's like a perfect hot pink.

Over this manicure I applied a coat of Golden Rose flakies in number 15. My favorite flakie! It's really rainbowy and I got a lot of compliments on it at work today :) Compliments make me happy :P

For tomorrow's challenge I'm kind of excited. I have an idea in mind and I hope it all works out well :P

Thanks for reading!

Day 12: Stripes

I can't believe this is day 12 already! It means we're already almost on the half of this month. Time flies when you're having fun. Actually also when you're not having fun.

For today I actually had something different in mind. You probably know that thing where you have something in mind, you work in it and during your little 'project' you change up things and it comes out different than planned. Never the less, I like the way it turned out. Kinda sporty.

I thought it would be better if I make a list of what I used.
  • Seche Clear base coat
  • 2 coats China Glaze Something Sweet
  • 1 coat Golden Rose Scale Effect #15
  • Metallic pink striping tape
  • O.P.I. top coat
I really liked this flakie. I believe I haven't really wore flakies over other colors than just black or dark colors.

Hope to see you back tomorrow! :)

Thanks for reading!

First Water Marble Attempt

I'm home sick today, so I had time to try this out. I failed big time, but I like the 'design' on my pinky! :)

I used a white base color, but I think black would've been better. Here's a list of polishes I used:
China Glaze - Snow
China Glaze - Ahoy!
Color Club - Alias
Golden Rose Holographic - 110

I would say thanks for reading, but there isn't much to read in this post :P

Pink Ombre Nails + Graffiti Nail Art

Okay, I know 99,9% of the people is totally over crackle polish. I belong to that 0,1% that still tolerates it :P I'm not into the black and white crackles, but I really wanted to check out the Golden Rose Graffiti Nail Art crackles. A few weeks ago I ordered 2 and this is one of them. It's number 10.

A few days ago I showed you my Pink Ombre Nails and when I wanted to refresh my manicure for the next day I thought it was time to finally try out the crackles.
Number 10 is a shimmery pink crackle polish. When you apply it on your nails it starts crackling pretty fast with gaps not to small or too big. It dries matte, which looks really ugly. When you apply the topcoat the shimmer starts sparkling and looking pretty :P

Thanks for reading!

P.S. Comments are highly appreciated. They're motivating me to show more on here. I know my nails aren't perfect, but still :)

Frankenpolish - Underground Candy Shop

So, I was bored today and finally started with something I've wanted to do for so long... Franken! I did it once before, but I never was happy with that one.

I called this one Underground Candy Shop. That was the first thing that popped up in my head :P On all pictures it looks like it's a black based polish, but it's actually like a smokey deep, deep, deep, deep grey/purple/pink I guess. That's because I put in red and pink eyeshadow.

Some bottle shots...

Ingredients:
- Miss Sporty Glossy Tech'
- Red eyeshadow
- Pink eyeshadow
- ELF Black nail polish
- Golden Rose Scale Effect 04
- Golden Rose Scale Effect 09
- China Glaze Fairy Dust
- Color Club Candy Cane
- Wet 'n Wild Back Alley Deals
- Wet 'n Wild Rockin' Rubies

I don't know how much of everything I threw in the bottle to be honest. I did need to add a topcoat over it, because otherwise it didn't look as glittery and shiny. I used 'David' topcoat and I love the shine that it gives over a manicure.

So, what do you think of my Frankenpolish? Is that actually how you call it? xD
